An urgent public meeting is set to take place this weekend as several mining companies have their sights set on Newcastle, with a possibility of turning the town into a mining hub . This has resulted in public outrage, with majority of the locals strongly opposed to the proposed open-cast mines.
The public is therefore urged to attend an urgent meeting to learn more on the dangers of coal mining in the area and to stand united in planning a strong response.

The meeting will be hosted by Save, Serve and Protect Newcastle (SSPN), which is a non-profit organisation that was started to object the proposed mines. Director of SSPN Mandy Austin said that time is running out and that residents should attend the meeting.

“We need as many people as possible to attend. The meeting will be strictly apolitical. It is so important that we act now to save our community,” said Austin.

There is no positive reason or benefit that Newcastle will receive. The road infrasture will be destroyed and traffic congested by hundreds of the tip trucks.
The town and surrounding areas will become dust bowls and resident health health and living congestion severely impacted. In addition there blasting that will affect structure and residents peace.
I don’t believe a word of the environment study.
So why has the Municipality remained quite and not looked after the residents interests. The answer is that money has or will be exchanged by the comrades.
